So to go perfectly with the runway trend this season, my 2 best dressed Oscar looks were black and white. It was actually a bit hard because I had a few gowns I loved including Lupita's and Jessica Beil's. The second Kate Hudson walked out to present and I saw the gown again I was breathless over the glamour. Charlize's gown was the definition of elegance and sophistication. Adore both completely.
I can't help but think about warm sunny weather after months of snow. Slipping into nothing but a bathing suit to take in the hot rays. I adore the new styles that double as cropped tops like this Mara Hoffman bathing suit. I can go from the beach to late afternoon cocktails by simply slipping on a high waist skirt. Easy, breezy.
Everyone needs a getaway in the cold of winter and especially when it decideds to snow every other day. I packed my short, little dresses and bikini's and headed to Florida for a few days. It got me thinking how much effort it takes to get dressed in the dead of winter. From layer upon layer of sweaters, jeans, socks, boots, scarves and coats to the finishing accessories of hats, gloves and even eat muffs. It is almost insanity when only a 2 hour flight away we slip into one little dress and sandals. In seconds I am out of bed and sipping tea by the water with my computer. When you look at the big picture winter is not just cold it takes time always from getting work done. I might have to make more trips ;)
The glam, rocker side of a Great Gasby girl walked out on Roberto Cavalli's Fall 2014 runway. Fringe detail, fur collars and long jewels swung from the tall models. The color palette was classic of black, white, deep blues and rich reds. A city ladies dream collection.
It's official the Fall collections are full of muted tones of gray, violet, and blush. Le Copains Fall 2014 collection follows the trend. The pretty purple hued runway complimented the collection. From a little white dress to a metallic print skirt the whole collection had pieces to crave.
The red carpet is great for trying to pick out future fashion trends, and a number of budget clothing manufacturers will examine Internet buzz to see just what the hottest look is, and can often have a version of the dress ready for sale less than 24 hours afterwards.
Styling and accessories also often come under close scrutiny during the red carpet walk, and yes, some looks work far better than others. So what are some of the hottest red carpet looks that you can easily make your own?
Then Vs. Now
As we move into the middle of the 2010’s, it’s as though the last couple of decades have been removed from red carpet fashion history. The “look at me” nature of Elizabeth Hurley’s black safety pin dress and Jennifer Lopez’s green dress that showed off a surprising amount of her “golden globes” seem to have been banished to the past (and incidentally- both of these infamous dresses were designed by Versace).
Up and coming actresses such as Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave) and Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street) opted for simple, elegant designs, and in the case of Ms Nyong’o, this was a simple block of stunning color.
Goodbye to Bling
It seems that celebrity stylists have been reminding their clients that they might like to look at photos of themselves without dying of embarrassment over their choices in clothing and grooming, and so hair and jewelry tends to have a more naturalistic, minimalist look.
Rather than making a bold “bling” type of statement, jewelry and accessories are being worn in muted colors, such as amber and pink. TV star Zooey Deschanel (New Girl) opted for pink jewelry accentuated with pearls, which worked really well with her dark hair.
The So-Called Worst Dressed List
There’s an element of extreme nastiness when it comes to the inevitable “worst dressed” lists that pop up after every major awards ceremony, since, if the actress (and in 99.9% of cases, it’s only women who appear) is happy and comfortable with the way she looks, then should anyone judge her? Many worst dressed looks simply make the list because a fashion editor didn’t happen to like the dress in question, but there were a few “worst dressed” fashion trends.
As with most years, the fashion jury is firmly divided on the issue of metallic hued dresses, and it’s true- it doesn’t work with all complexions. Although if it’s a look you love, then you should embrace it!
Only the most dedicated fashion aficionados will actually watch an awards ceremony and take notes about the looks they’d like to copy, and often it’s easier to just think, “Hmmm- I like how that looks,” and wait for the look to filter its way down to you.
After all, as Meryl Streep pointed out in The Devil Wears Prada, some form of high fashion will eventually make its way to you- one way or another.
I'm pretty sure we can all remember the Sex and The City episode where Samantha slips into a sexy pearl thong for Richard. Bracli was the original designer of that sexy little lingerie piece and they have upgraded it since. I am not one for "over the top, get crazy in the bedroom" items but this little number is just the right mix of sweet and spicy.
With Valentine's day almost here it might be the perfect gift for the guy in your life. Surprise him with the most luxurious french chattily lace and pearls, which promise to make the evening memorable.
Ralph Lauren's Fall 2014 collection was the picture of elegance. The color palette of blush pinks, ivory, and gray will officially be my Fall picks. Some of the pieces reminded me of the 80's magazine covers girls showing pure glamour. I am do delighted to see a collection bringing femininity and sophistication.
It seems this Fall 2014 NYFW season the designers are doing completely wearable. Nonoo sent style after style down the runway that was impeccable with cut out details and fur accents. A digital print dress that is slowly becoming part of her signature style with just the right amount of color for even the all black wearing New Yorker.
When I think of Lela Rose, I can't help but think feminine and lady like. Pretty was ever little piece with the ivory styles calling me to wear for work and play. The blushing floral top could easily be paired with denim and the flirty dresses completely brunch ready.
I had the absolutely greatest privilege to style the Dore show this season fro New York Fashion Week. ( You can watch it here ) Each pieces was more stunning than the next. It is truly hard to pick favorites, since I could find a reason to wear almost every single look. There were two special dresses that if you know me, you could probably pick them out as DawnDressed worthy. From the sketches to the final designs I knew they would be true loves.
Studded leather, fur trims and print dresses were my stand out styles from Nicole Millers Fall 2014 collection. It felt so New York to me. Leather pants paired with silky blue tops some how felt office ready. I want to take the studded skirt off the runway and wear it now. The entire collection felt delightfully edgy.
After getting snow almost every single week this winter season, I can't help but crave the warm sun an beach days. The white on the tree's is pretty and the peaceful silence after a coating of snow is lovely, but a day at the beach is heaven. My quick getaway, that I am swiftly planning right after fashion week is a 2 hour flight away to West Palm Beach. For the longest the Ritz Carlton was my home away from home but after searching endlessly for my usually to book, I hopeless could not find it. Learning it is sadly gone, but lucky there is The Breakers, which has always been the place to be in Palm Beach anyway. Take me away (to Worth Ave too)!!
Animal prints have see there day for a little while, or at least for this season. That of course doesn't mean a subtle leopard print in jacquard is out of questions. In fact it is an absolute must. Giambattista Valle made it happen in all the right ways on a pretty little short pink dress, just right for the Spring season. I can't wait!
I spent the late night ( 2am) looking for the perfect pair of white pumps. Although I did not find them, yet, I did notice so many minty colored heels. A color I do adore. This lead me to add pairs to every shopping cart for the sites I was on. That is the most simple version of the shopping worm hole that happens in the midnight hours. Then suddenly a day or two later a package arrives, opps.
Do you remember the fun candy bracelets and necklaces you could eat each colorful piece off of? Charlotte Olympia has reinvented it in the best way possible. Her Sweet Dolly blue suede heels have the most irresistible detachable candy like chain, that makes them a sweet must have.
I honestly rarely wear hats. The only time is when I am on the mountain skiing, thats about it. I have one single knit beanie in basic black, but I can't help notice how cute they actually look styled with an outfit. I still have trouble feeling like I can wear it, but think I am ready to give it a good try. Especially with a cute style like this one with a bow.

I am literally seeing these rings everywhere. From instagraming bloggers to the glossy's gold finger length gold band rings. I must say I am on the hunt for one or two and found what looks like the original concept on net-a-porter. Now, we know I am not one for knock offs so the real deal Repossi Berbere it is.
