NYFW SPRING 2010 Day One Rundown

By Friday, September 11, 2009 , , , , , ,

The NYFW has kicked off.always a fun, fantastic time of the year, where all the gorgeous new fashion trends are found on the runways. Day One started with some great shows BCBG Max Azria, Davidefin, Elie Tahari, L.A.M.B., Port 1961, and Vena Cava.

BCBG Max Azria began with a young hollywood front row, Solange Knowles, Amanda Bynes, the spring season collection was perfectly fitted for them with short body contious styles and 80's style edge. The ruched silks were popping with color, accompanied by bandage tightly wound around the body. Mixed in to off set the tighter pieces were flow long, Rachel Zoe style dresses. I loved that they added a clutch to each models walk down the runway, and simply stated tossled hair.

I hadn't heard of the line Delfin before, maybe because he is based in Madrid, or maybe because this is only his 2nd show here, in any case he really made a statement. There was simply an ocean of blue as the models marched down the runway. Each girl and guy was suited up in his unique styles, pant-skirts, shirtdresses, and Christian Louboutins. The pistachio color is mixed with neutrals on the realway, can work great.

Wow love the mixing of Bright Orange and Khaki, and Elie Tahari got that just right. The designer sent a linen jumpsuit, black leather shorts, a must have right now, and even boyfriend jeans down the runway. The colllection looked like it was making a modern move to a new generation of customers.

L.A.M.B has really stepped up the whole celebrity with a clothing line concept and made it through all the snarkle behind a celebrity driven brand. As many of the shows have made oa resurrection of the 80's Gwen managed to incorporate the feel as well, along with some great print pieces. Of course there was a rocker edge peeking through with exposed zippers, lacey tights, studded belts, even a bit of Lady Gaga style pantless pieces. Gwen totally knows how to glam rock it up with amazingly wearable styles.

Designer Tia Cibani of Ports 1961 aptly title her Spring 2010 collection Fluere. She incorporated simple jersey t-shirt dresses, obi belted cocktail dresses with splashes of watercolor, adding colors of beautiful creams, blushes, and red. I seriously loved the platform, sky high pink and white shoes too.

Vena Cava is stepping it up with South African inspired graphic prints, and accessories form Tiffany & Co. Simple black dresses, ruffled print tops, asymetrical dresses, in deep neutral tones. For the spring, the looks are totally wearable with basic tanks, and cute shoes.
