Eileen Fisher Lands In London!
Eileen Fisher has been making classic sportswear staples for American women for almost 30 years, but she hasn’t branched outside of the U.S. That is, until now.
I had the pleasure of attending the opening of the new Eileen Fisher store in London. The store is in St Martin’s Courtyard, a cute little courtyard in London’s famous Covent Garden neighborhood. The area is buzzing with excitement, but Eileen Fisher’s outpost is like a breath of fresh air. The airy, bi-level shop is mannequin-free, so there is plenty of room to move around as you browse. The spacious store was a sweet relief from London’s bustling streets, and unlike many other stores, it was actually an appealing place to try on clothes – I didn’t think it was possible!
Clothes are artfully styled on hangers throughout the shop, so you can see how the individual pieces can come together. This season’s collection is full of muted tones with pops of berry and chartreuse hues. I adore the Silk Crepe de Chine Classic Collar Henley Shirt, seen above on the right in Storm. To its left is the High Collar Long Coat in Undyed Wool Alpaca Slub, another of my favorites. The collection on display was eminently touchable, featuring jersey, silk and plenty of cashmere.
While British fashion is certainly cutting edge, I’ve found that there just aren’t enough designers that offer easy, high-quality basics to pad your professional wardrobe. Thankfully, Eileen Fisher can fill that niche. I have a number of items on my wish list already! And when a surprise sunshower blew through the city after I left the store, you can bet I was wishing I had a washed Mohair Dream Infinity Wrap of my own to keep out the chill.
